The Website Revamp Project

The Rebuild in 2021

The CSUC website revamp project is on task, having raised just under $2,000.00 from divers, processors, and other fishery organizations.

We have named a web designer, KK Design, who will rebuild the site and maintain the site in the future. We have a target date of December 31, 2021 to be up and running and are currently on schedule. If you have any questions or would like to contribute content contact csucventuraport@gmail.com.

We want to thank everyone who contributed to our fund-raising efforts.

Some priorities are to create a responsive website that displays well on mobile and tablet devices as well as larger computers. Additional features include a news & events section, a comprehensive listing of divers and processors, board contact information, and the potential for future marketing efforts.

California Sea Urchin Website Enhancement in 2022

The Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission (PSMFC), in cooperation with the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), issued grants to fund projects that investigate ways to improve resiliency in California’s urchin fisheries and mitigate the effects of kelp loss.

Sea Urchin permit holder Dave Colker wrote and applied for this grant in an attempt to focus on marketing sea urchin harvesting through this website. He was approved and work has commenced to approve the www.calurchin.org website, promote the website through a Southern Californian Editorial Newspaper, “The Log”, www.thelog.com (33,000 print editions every 2 weeks and 34,000 website hits per month). We currently have a quarter page advertisement in the print version of the newspaper that directs readers to our website, and an online digital advertisement. On top of this, the funding from grant supplies us with the ability to have a professional analytics team monitor, track, and advise us on user traffic to the website. The campaign is designed to run until mid-2024. For more information, contact Dave Colker at csucventuraport@gmail.com.
